Treat your pool with shock, and super chlorinators when you need to keep your pool free from contaminants and harmful bacteria. Shock your pool weekly, or more often, especially during hot weather and after long periods of rain.

Pool Chemicals and Supplies

While chlorine is undoubtedly important, you will need a few more things to keep your pool ready for any-time use. 

• Calcium hypochlorite is mainly used for small home pools and is safe and easy to apply. It is very safe and dissolves quickly. Temperature and hard water do not affect the effectiveness of Lithium hypochlorite and do not injure soft surfaces.

• The primary things to be aware of are that cal-hypo will raise calcium hardness levels of your water. If water pool water stays too hard for too long, it can cause corrosion to the pool surface.

• All pool shock granular products should be used for superchlorination and not as an everyday chlorinating method.
